Science fiction and fantasy found a Skald or Scandinavian poet in the form of Poul Anderson, who is celebrated in Multiverse: Exploring Poul Anderson’s Worlds from editors Greg Bear and Gardner Dozois. Anderson (1926-2001) was one of famous science fiction writers who was awarded a Grand Master by the field. His family, friends, and fans gather in this anthology to pay him tribute. The book contains original stories set in his created settings. There are also reminisces from wife Karen, daughter Astrid, and son in law Greg Bear. One finds that he had a very big impact on the field, as most of the adoring writers featured here are superstars in their own right.

Those who have read or recently re-read him are likely to have a greater appreciation for the stories. Those not familiar with his work might not fully understand them. Anderson did produce some memorable and award winning works in his time, and here one can revisit some of his award winning creations. There are also tales of his Time Patrol and galactic James Bond: Dominic Flandry. There are also a few stand out stories for the ignorant reader. After this appreciation, one is likely to want to read Anderson more.
