Cannabis and CBD Science for Dogs discusses the health benefits and effects of marijuana and hemp-based products to treat various health and medical issues with our canine companions. It gives us a timeline–a slimmed down history of the use of marijuana and hemp for medical purposes–to start with and then goes into the chemical components that make it effective at treating various disorders and illnesses. After that, we get a list of the different ways that you get the compounds for the medicine and the best ways to procure and produce them, followed up with some first-hand stories involving dogs’ use of canna-pet hemp products. All in all, everything is broken down in just the right way to make this very approachable for anyone who wants to learn about alternative medicine options for their canine companion.

I really enjoyed reading this book. D. Caroline Coile did a wonderful job explaining everything out in a way that was easy to understand and even offered up examples of the effectiveness and sources for her work. I have always been a supporter of the medical marijuana movement, and it was very cool to learn about the ways that it can help out dogs, too. As much as the book is about the use of medical marijuana and hemp for different illnesses in dogs, the history lesson that you get of its uses throughout history is very interesting and well worth checking out on its own. As with most books written on this subject, it is hard to find an unbiased source, and Caroline does an awesome job of remaining unbiased in it. If you are interested in learning about the ways that marijuana and hemp can help out your dog, I definitely recommend picking this book up once it is available.
