Wouldn’t it be nice to have a pocket-sized guide that would allow you to plan each day in one of the world’s great cities to use every minute really well, that would give you travel time from any destination one chooses to the next, that would give you a good suggestion for a place to dine near every destination, and that wouldn’t bury you in too much information? Well, leave it to Lonely Planet to come up with just such a guide. In fact, they have come up with a whole series of such guides, including Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo, San Francisco, Sydney, and more. These little books have thirty-nine destinations for each city arranged with each on a card one-third of the page. All these are ring-bound, and this allows you to mix and match the destinations to plan a morning, afternoon, and evening in different sites. Each little card has a device that tells you travel time and method to other destinations, a “top tip” that gives some important information for the destination, a thumbnail map, and a restaurant suggestion. A fold-out map shows where each destination is in the city. Extras in the back include room for notes, guides for transportation and shopping, dos and don’ts, and a complete street and metro map. These are all very useful little books.
